1. What is the aim of obstacle training?

It helps the cadets in developing and promoting physical fitness, self confidence, determination and quick reflexes.

2. Name any six standard training obstacles?

Straight balance, Clear Jump, Gate vault, Zig zag balance, High wall, Double Stride Jump, Right Hand Vault, Left Hand Vault, Ramp.

3.  Give the measurement of any four standard training obstacles.

            Straight balance : Length 12’ 0” Height 1’ 6”
            Clear Jump : Height 2’ 0”
            Gate vault : Height 5’ 0”
            Zig zag balance : Length 18’ Height 1’ 6”

4. What are the different types of NCC Camps?

            CATC – Combined Annual Training Camp;    BLC – Basic Leadership Camp
            PRDC – Pre Republic Day camp;                      ALC – Advanced Leadership Camp
            NIC – National Integration Camp ;                 AAC – Army Attachment Camp
            RDC – Republic Day Camp;                             SSC – Social Service Camp
            IDC – Independence Day Camp;                     Heakking and trekking camp
             Course at Himalayan mountaineering Institute Darjeeling

5. What are the advantages of NCC training to students?

            * By NCC training, students develop qualities like social service, team spirit,   leadership, discipline and self confidence.

* Since NCC training camps are held at different places in the country, cadets get opportunity to visit important historical and industrial places and social centres. Due to this students widen their horizon and develop ambition to do creative work.

* NCC cadets are taught civil defence and self defence. Due to this students develop    national spirit and confidence.

* NCC cadets are attached with Army units every year so that they get acquainted with the Army life.

* NCC Cadets are trained for parachute jumps and mountaineering so that they develop capacity to do courageous work.

            * Under Colmbo plan, selected cadets are sent to foreign countries every year.

* Thirty two seats are reserved per course in the IMA for cadets who have passed NCC ‘C’ certificate examination. NCC Cadets having 50% aggregate marks in graduation with minimum ‘B’ grade in ‘C’ examination are eligible for short service commission without qualifying CDS written examination. They will face direct SSB interview.

            * NCC trained cadets are given preference in recruitment of Armed Forces.

            * Many industrialists give priority in jobs for NCC trained students.

            * Central and State governments also give priority in job for NCC trained students.

* Priority is given to NCC trained students by universities in B.Ed., M.A.,                       M.Sc., M.Sc., (Ag) admission and hostel.

* NCC trained students are given priority in recruitment in Central Reserve Force and B.S.F etc.

* NCC cadets are given refreshment on every parade and are given washing allowance for uniform.

            * NCC cadets are given facility to purchase goods from military canteen.

* On death or permanently handicapped of NCC cadet during NCC activities, a sum of Rs. 1.25 Lac, Rs. Lac respectively are paid from NCC welfare society.
